02.2Major & Minor Repairs

FIG. 02.2.1When to book

Signs it's time.

  1. 01A diagnosis found something that needs fixing
  2. 02Something is leaking, slipping or getting worse
  3. 03You know what needs repair and want it done by appointment
  4. 04You’d like a second opinion on a recommended repair

FIG. 02.2.1Two kinds of repair

Major and minor, side by side.

A

Major repairs

Larger jobs that take more time, involve major systems or need parts ordered. Jose explains the scope, the parts and the timing on your estimate before anything starts.

B

Minor repairs

Smaller repairs and replacements that keep a vehicle running right. Tell us what you’re noticing and we’ll confirm what it needs and how long it should take.

FIG. 02.2.3Good to Know

Good to know before you book.

General notes, not a diagnosis. For your vehicle, start the Pre-Diagnostic Check.

What a diagnostic appointment involves

A technician confirms the symptom, checks stored trouble codes and live data where the vehicle supports it, and tests the parts and wiring involved, so the repair targets the cause. At Ipatzi the diagnostic evaluation is $180. If you go ahead with a qualifying repair, part of that fee may be credited toward it; we’ll confirm how much with your estimate.

Note what it sounds like (knock, tick, squeal, grind, hiss or rattle), when it happens (cold start, accelerating, braking, turning or idling) and where it seems to come from. A short video with sound lets the technician hear what you hear. A knock together with an oil pressure or temperature warning means stop the engine right away.

FIG. 02.2.4Questions
